A man saved 30 baby crocodiles by releasing them in a river after he found them on his farm in central India’s Madhya Pradesh.
The incident took place in Sandalpur village in Bhanpura Tehsil, Mandsaur district on June 21.
Visuals showed a man carrying a net bag in his hand. He kept the bag on the ground and started releasing the baby crocodiles from inside it. He directed them with his hands so that they travelled in the correct direction. The babies were seen coming out of the bag and moving towards the water.
According to reports, in a surprise find, as many as 30 baby crocodiles were spotted near a farm. Farmer Shubham Chetram Patidar was both shocked and thrilled at having spotted the small reptiles. He then alerted the district collector Gautam Singh and the forest department.
Upon getting information, a forest department team rushed to the village and rescued the reptiles. The baby crocodiles were later released into the Chambal river.
The noble gesture made by farmers towards wildlife conservation has been receiving widespread appreciation. Finance minister Jagdish Deora and Mandsaur MLA Yashpal Singh Sisodia also praised the farmers.
