Youth involved in assault on security guard, claims kinship with top officials in southern India

A 21-year-old youth has been booked by southern India’s Karnataka police for assaulting a security guard who refused entry to his friends at a Bengaluru apartment complex. The accused, Varun, allegedly claimed to be related to the Chief Minister and the son of a Deputy Commissioner of Police.

 

The incident took place at Provident Sunworth Apartment in Doddabele in Kumbalgodu police station area on September 20.

Visuals showed a resident angrily slapping a security guard at the society gate, repeatedly striking him as the guard denied entry to his friends, creating a scene amidst the evening chaos.

 

In Bengaluru, a 21-year-old resident, Varun, has been booked for allegedly assaulting a security guard after being denied entry to his friends late at night. The incident took place at Provident Sunworth Apartment in Doddabele, under the jurisdiction of Kumbalgodu police station, on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

 

According to police reports, the altercation occurred when security guard Puneeth refused to let two female and one male friend of Varun enter the apartment premises after midnight, citing residential guidelines. Enraged, Varun allegedly slapped and assaulted Puneeth, claiming to be a distant relative of Karnataka’s Chief Minister and the son of a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

 

In his complaint, Puneeth stated that the assault caused an ear injury, leaving him temporarily unable to hear. CCTV footage from the apartment complex has reportedly captured the entire incident, including Varun’s friends arriving in a car.

 

The police have initiated a full investigation, examining the assault claims as well as verifying Varun’s claims of political and police connections. The accused is expected to be called in for questioning soon.
