According to reports, the victim had altered his name to gain entry into the Dandiya program. Recently, Hindu organizations in Madhya Pradesh had issued a ban on non-Hindus attending Dandiya events. Leaders from groups like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal had demanded that non-Hindus be barred from organizing Garba and Dandiya events, even suggesting that participants present their Aadhaar cards for entry.
