An eastern India’s Odisha-based engineer has captured the internet’s attention by creatively launching a Diwali rocket using Amazon’s Alexa.
The incident took place at Raighar in the Nabarangpur district and the video went viral on October 23.
Visuals showed with man’s command, “Alexa, launch the rocket,” the device responded, “Yes boss. Launching the rocket,” and immediately, the firecracker was ignited.
According to reports, Mani, who recently completed his BTech degree in 2024, has always been passionate about technology and experiments. Currently on the job hunt, he has been using his free time to explore creative projects at home.
The internet buzzed with curiosity, and viewers requested a tutorial to understand Mani’s smart setup. He later uploaded a detailed guide on his YouTube channel, explaining how to use an ESP32/ESP8266 microcontroller and a relay switch to trigger the rocket’s ignition via Alexa.
Mani’s project combines his love for experimentation with modern technology. He recounted his journey, sharing that even during his studies, he juggled projects and internships, constantly striving to blend academics with hands-on learning.
