A herd of wild elephants was spotted roaming the urban vicinity of northern India’s Uttarakhand. Fortunately, no damage was reported to parked vehicles during the elephants’ brief incursion into the city.
The incident took place at the Ganapati Dham Phase 3 area of Raja Garden in Haridwar on November 1.
Visuals showed a herd of five elephants leisurely walking through the streets of Raja Garden. This alarming yet fascinating sight has prompted the forest department to remain on high alert.
According to reports, upon receiving reports of the elephants’ presence in the city, the Quick Response Team of the forest department was dispatched to safely guide the animals back to their natural habitat. The team has been actively monitoring the situation, ready to intervene whenever necessary.
Despite the elephants’ unexpected visit, it is a relief that they did not cause any harm to the vehicles parked along the road. The forest department’s quick actions aim to ensure the safety of both the elephants and the residents, as the conflict between wildlife and urban development poses ongoing challenges.
