Wild elephant sparks panic in rural village in northern India
The frequent intrusion of wild animals continues to threaten the rural regions of northern India’s Uttarakhand.
The incident took place at Khedli village near Bahadrabad in the Haridwar district on November 6.
Visuals showed on a roadside in a forested area, a wild elephant was wandering peacefully, drawing a crowd of onlookers. People gathered excitedly along the road, clicking photos of the majestic animal as it roamed close by. The scene was filled with curious spectators capturing the rare sight on their cameras.
Residents say this is not an isolated incident. Wild animals, especially elephants, frequently enter populated areas, putting the lives of locals at risk. Villagers expressed frustration with the Forest Department, claiming it has repeatedly failed to prevent such incidents despite being informed of the issue numerous times.
“The Forest Department has been notified several times, yet no permanent solution has been provided. We feel unsafe in our own village,” shared a concerned resident.
The locals have urged authorities to implement effective measures to control the entry of wild animals into human habitats, stressing the need for a more secure and permanent solution to this ongoing problem.
