Wild elephant slips from cliff, succumbs to injuries

The incident took place in Coonoor, in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, southern India, and the video went viral on January 10.
Visuals show the elephant tumbling down the cliff multiple times before falling to the ground. Forest officers attempted to revive it by spraying water, but the elephant did not respond.
According to reports, the 15-year-old female elephant slipped while drinking water and fell approximately 70 feet, suffering fatal injuries after hitting its head on the rocks. A team from Mudumalai is expected to conduct a post-mortem examination.
The forest department has intensified surveillance in the area, as two more wild elephants have been spotted nearby.
