Wild elephant scare forces plantation workers to scale trees
Workers in southern India’s Tamil Nadu, clutched themselves to trees for safety after a wild elephant scare.
The incident took place in Gudalur town of the Nilgiris district on November 28.
Visuals showed the workers perched on silver oak trees, holding on tightly to avoid a wild elephant that had taken position beneath them. The elephant, seemingly undeterred, lingered under the trees, forcing the workers to remain stranded for what felt like an eternity.
According to reports, at around 4 PM, the workers were cutting bushes in a coffee plantation within the estate’s first division area. Suddenly, a wild elephant appeared, sparking chaos. Panicked workers screamed and fled in all directions, with some managing to climb trees. The elephant chased them but eventually lost interest and retreated after about 15 minutes. Only then did the workers cautiously descend, shaken but unharmed.
