An elderly man sustained injuries after a wild boar charged into an ATM counter in southern India’s Kerala, causing broken glass and chaos.
The incident took place at an ATM counter of a private bank on Mundakkayam Road, near the bus stand, in Charala area on November 11.
Visuals showed as Gopalan was attempting to withdraw money. Moments after he inserted his card, he heard the back glass door crash loudly. Startled, he saw the wild boar charging toward the counter. Though Gopalan managed to escape outside before the animal could attack him, the shattered glass from the ATM injured his legs, requiring two stitches on his left leg. The boar, captured on the ATM’s CCTV, was seen running back and forth within the counter before finally exiting. Gopalan received treatment at the Erumeli Community Health Centre.
According to reports, the bank promptly closed the ATM after the incident. Residents reported seeing a group of wild boars in the area earlier that morning. Although no complaints were filed with the forest department on Monday, Gopalan indicated he plans to report the incident on Tuesday.
