Passersby were left stunned as a train coach was spotted on a road, sparking confusion and disbelief.

The incident took place in Degana town of Nagaur district, Rajasthan, northern India on December 9.

Visuals show a railway coach standing stationary in the middle of a bustling market late in the day, leaving locals and passers-by both shocked and amazed as they wondered about its unusual presence in the middle of the street.

According to reports, residents of Degana were astonished to see a train coach standing on the road. Initially, passersby believed the coach had derailed and landed there, but it was later revealed that it had been lifted by two cranes and placed on the road. The unusual scene unfolded near Nagaur Gate around 8 pm on Monday, with the process of turning the bogie taking approximately 30 minutes. Due to its size, a section of the road remained closed for nearly four hours.

Railway contractors Ramniwas and Rajendra Fulfagar explained that the Degana railway station is being developed as a model station under the Amrit Bharat Yojana, which includes several innovative projects to enhance passenger convenience. As part of this initiative, a restaurant is being planned within the train coach under Jodhpur Division Railway.

The air-conditioned bogie was brought from the Railway Repairing Centre for this purpose. Locals were both surprised and intrigued by the sight, as the railway coach was visible from the doors of nearby houses and shops. While some initially panicked, they later understood that the bogie was intended for the restaurant project. Many seized the moment to capture selfies with the unique sight, marking the first time a train coach had been seen on the road.
