Western India family holds grand burial ceremony for cherished car, invites 1,500 to honor it

In a unique tribute in western India’s Gujarat, a family held a ceremonial burial for their 12-year-old car that brought prosperity to their lives.

The incident took place in Padarshinga village of Amreli district on November 7.

Visuals showed the family performing rituals around the car, which was adorned with flowers and garlands. A slope and 15-foot-deep pit were prepared on their land, and the hatchback was driven into it with great fanfare.
According to reports, after being lowered into the pit, the vehicle was covered with a green cloth as the family bid farewell by performing a puja, showering rose petals, and chanting mantras led by priests. Polara, a businessman from Surat and the car’s owner explained that he chose this tribute as the vehicle played a significant role in the family’s prosperity. He invested Rs 4 lakh in the ceremony, intending it to be a memorable event for future generations. The burial was followed by a feast for 1,500 attendees, and Polara plans to plant a tree over the burial site as a lasting tribute to the car.

The samadhi ceremony was conducted as per Hindu rituals, with seers and religious leaders in attendance to bless the event.
