Wedding guest tied to electric pole, brutally beaten as mistaken for thief

A wedding celebration took a distressing turn when a drunken wedding guest was falsely accused of theft, restrained to a pole, and brutally assaulted by local residents.
The incident took place in Tarkulwa village of Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh in northern India on November 28.
Visuals show a mob swiftly gathering to tie the man to an electric pole, where they violently beat him with kicks and punches while disregarding his pleas for mercy.According to the reports, this occurred when wedding guests had gathered at a local marriage hall, one guest, who was intoxicated, wandered away from the group and knocked on the door of a nearby house around midnight. Mistaking him for a thief in light of a recent burglary in the area, residents raised an alarm, shouting “thief, thief.”
Later, a mob rapidly formed, tying the man to an electric pole before violently beating him with kicks and punches while disregarding his pleas. Multiple bystanders captured the incident on video and later posted it online, leading to widespread outrage.
Police intervened after receiving an alert, rescued the injured man and transported him to a local police station for medical care. The victim’s family came to retrieve him the following morning.
