Quick-thinking volunteer saves 35-year-old man’s life with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) after heart attack at Maha Kumbh Mela.
The incident took place at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh, northern India, on January 14.
Visuals show an individual performing CPR on the man, surrounded by Railway Protection Special Force officials. Some people are seen rubbing his palms, while a few bystanders watch. The officials then lift the man and transport him to the railway tent medical centre located outside the Maha Kumbh site. The man who performed the CPR appears anxious and asks for water to calm down, while an official points out that he is the one who performed the life-saving procedure. Later, it is seen that the 35-year-old man is lying in a hospital bed, posing for a picture alongside the life-saver.
According to reports, Farhan Alam Idrisi, a volunteer from Prime Rose Education Institute, swiftly stepped in to assist 35-year-old Ram Shankar, who had collapsed due to a heart attack.
This incident highlights the critical importance of CPR training, especially in large gatherings like the Maha Kumbh Mela, where medical emergencies can occur. Alam’s prompt action underscores the life-saving potential of immediate medical intervention.
