Visa crisis sparks massive protest at Indian visa centre in Bangladesh
In a significant incident at the Indian visa centre in Dhaka, Bangladesh, hundreds of Bangladeshi Muslims erupted in protest over the denial of visas by Indian authorities.
The incident took place at the Indian Visa Centre in Dhaka city, and the video of the furious crowd went viral on August 26.
Visuals from the scene showed a massive crowd protesting furiously in the centre’s hall. The demonstrators were seen raising slogans and expressing their anger over the visa denial.
According to reports, the protests erupted because India had indefinitely suspended its visa processing activities in Bangladesh following the ouster of the Hasina government through a mass uprising on August 5. However, the Indian visa application centre resumed “limited operations” two weeks ago, just days after violent clashes led to the ouster of ex-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
