Violent clash at sea claims sailor’s life; boat engulfed in flames later in western India

In a tragic incident in western India’s Maharashtra, a sailor was killed during a violent altercation aboard a fishing boat, which was then set on fire.
The incident took place in the deep sea near Kunkeshwar, off Deogarh in Sindhudurg district on October 28.
Visuals showed the burning boat surrounded by churning waves, with plumes of black smoke billowing into the sky, creating a horrifying scene.
According to reports, a dispute erupted between the sailors while fishing in the deep sea. During the altercation, Khalasi Jayprakash Vishwakarma fatally attacked the sailor, Ravindra Natekar, and ignited the boat. The vessel, owned by Numan Rafiq Phanopkar from Rajivwada in Ratnagiri, sustained damages amounting to approximately one and a half crores. Police confirmed the arrest of Jayprakash Vishwakarma, who was accused of committing this heinous act in a fit of rage.
