Villagers parade crocodile on bicycle in northern India
A village in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh witnessed a bizarre incident when a crocodile entered its streets, causing panic. After the forest department failed to capture the animal, the villagers took matters into their own hands, capturing the crocodile and parading it through the village on a bicycle.
The incident took place at Bharosa village in Moth Tehsil, which is in the Jhansi district and the video went viral on September 23.
Visuals showed the villagers are seen tying up the crocodile with ropes and placing it on a bicycle. They then proceeded to parade the crocodile through the village in an impromptu procession, drawing attention and spreading word of the unusual event far and wide.
Residents were shocked when a crocodile emerged from a nearby drain and wandered the village streets. Concerned for their safety, the villagers immediately notified the forest department, hoping they would capture the reptile. However, despite efforts, the department was unable to catch the crocodile.
Eventually, the forest department received the news of the crocodile being paraded through the streets. Their team arrived at the scene and took custody of the animal, later releasing it safely into the Betwa River.
This incident highlights both the resourcefulness and the risk villagers were willing to take to ensure the safety of their community in the face of an unexpected challenge.
