Vehicle towed despite elderly couple sitting inside in northern India

This incident took place in Sector 50 of Noida on March 19.
Visuals showed the elderly couple seated inside the car as it was towed away. The old man seated in the back seat was also seen folding his hands as the towing crane took away the vehicle.
According to a report, this is not in accordance with the rules with the norm being that a car cannot be towed if there are people inside, despite it being parked illegally. In this case, there was a clear violation of rules and after an outrage by the people, the Noida police registered a case against those who were behind this and were operating the towing crane.
Biswajeet Majumdar, who owns the car, acknowledged that he willingly remained inside the vehicle as it was being towed, but contended that the contractor declined to return his car. He asserted that the “no parking” sign was obscured by a tree.
The Noida authority has issued a show cause notice to Praveen Gupta, the contractor, questioning why his services should not be terminated, and imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on him. CEO Lokesh M of the Noida authority has initiated an investigation, stating that the contractor’s staff intentionally towed away a car with occupants inside, according to an official statement.
Additionally, the authority has lodged a complaint at the Sector 49 police station against Gupta, along with Anurag Kumar and Vinit Kaushik, who were operating the tow truck. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Anil Kumar Yadav mentioned, “We have confiscated the tow truck.”
Anuj Kumar, the Station House Officer of the Sector 49 police station, stated, “After considering the video evidence, we have filed a case under Section 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code against the contractor and the driver of the towing vehicle.”
