Urgent rescue operations in northern India as flooding traps residents

The incident took place at Azad Nagar, Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar District on August 7.
Visuals showed during the flood, a residential area experienced significant water accumulation outside the homes. The floodwaters had risen so high that residents were forced to seek refuge on their rooftops. The rescue team arrived to find people stranded on their terraces, surrounded by rising water. Using rafts and other rescue equipment, the team carefully evacuated the individuals from their elevated positions, ensuring their safety as they were transported to secure locations. The scene was marked by the contrast of the waterlogged streets and the rescue team’s diligent efforts to reach those in need.
The Disaster Control Room in Udham Singh Nagar alerted the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) about severe flooding in the Azad Nagar area of Rudrapur. Intense rainfall had led to significant water accumulation in 1-2 houses, leaving several residents stranded.
In response to this emergency, an SDRF team, led by Inspector Balram Singh Bajeli from the Rudrapur post, was swiftly dispatched to the scene with a raft and other necessary equipment. Upon arrival, the SDRF team undertook immediate relief and rescue operations.
Using the raft, the team successfully evacuated 15-20 individuals who were trapped by the flooding. These residents were safely transported to secure locations, thanks to the efficient and timely intervention of the SDRF.
