Update: Indian coast guard rescues ailing fisherman in southern India, demonstrates commitment to maritime Safety

The fisherman was rescued from IFB Jazeera 40 nautical miles off Beypore coast on May 7.

The Coast Guard announced that Ajin, a 26-year-old fisherman, originally from Colachel in Tamil Nadu, was rescued from the IFB Jazeera vessel, which was 40 nautical miles off Beypore.
According to a statement from the Coast Guard, the Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC) in Beypore received a distress call from AD Fisheries reporting the fisherman’s drowning from their fishing boat. Although the fisherman was initially rescued by the IFB, his health deteriorated due to seawater entering his lungs. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) promptly dispatched an Advanced Light Helicopter with a medical team aboard at 3 pm IST from Kochi. Additionally, Coast Guard ships Aryaman and C-404 responded to the distress call.
The IFB was located, and the patient was airlifted to Kochi. Upon arrival, he was promptly transferred to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
As per the statement, the patient’s condition is currently stable.
