Update 1: Helicopter en route to pick political leader crashed in western India, no casualties

A mishap took place in western India’s Maharashtra, where a helicopter en route to pick a political leader crashed.

The incident took place in Mahad of Raigarh district on May 3.

Sushma Andare was about to go from Mahad to Baramati for campaigning. But before he could board the helicopter, the helicopter crashed. In another visual, few officials were seen standing near the damaged helicopter.

Speaking to Newslions, Special Police officer Vikram Dhotre said that on Friday a private helicopter, en route to pick up Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Sushma Andhare, unexpectedly crashed upon landing. The crash occurred during landing, causing the helicopter to lose balance and crash to the ground. This happened because they did not receive any signal and did not know where to land. Fortunately, both pilots survived. Video footage of the crash was shared on social media, including on Sushma Andhare’s Facebook page. Andhare, who was scheduled for a rally in Mahad, had to delay her travel plans to Amravati for an election rally the following day.

Police and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. Meanwhile, Andhare, visibly shaken by the crash, opted to travel by car instead of the same helicopter to attend her scheduled election meetings across various parts of the district.
