Unidentified miscreants burn school in northeastern India, sparking fears and sorrow
In a tragic event in northeastern India’s Manipur, a school was set ablaze by unidentified miscreants, igniting widespread concerns and regret.
The incident took place in Blooming Flower Foundation School of Kalinagar locality in Jiribam district on October 18.
Visuals showed the school premises engulfed in flames during the early hours of the day, with the scene appearing both horrific and distressing. The fire tore through the prestigious institution, leaving the community in shock.
According to reports, unidentified miscreants set the school on fire around 4:10 a.m., worsening the already tense atmosphere in Manipur. The school, owned by Rev. Benjamin Shakum, a respected figure in education and social work, suffered severe damage, though no casualties were reported. The Hmar Inpui accused radical Meitei groups of carrying out the attack, claiming it was part of a broader effort to destabilize the Hmar community. While the Hmar people are committed to peace, the Inpui warned they are ready to defend themselves if necessary. They called on authorities to act swiftly to prevent further escalation and ensure the community’s safety.
