In a chain collision in southern India’s Kerala, vehicles in Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s convoy collided due to a sudden maneuver by a scooter rider.
The incident took place at Vamanapuram Park junction in Thiruvananthapuram district on October 28.
Visuals showed an escort vehicle attempting to assist a woman on a scooter as she made a sharp right turn across the road. Her abrupt turn caused the car behind her to brake suddenly, leading to a domino effect where six convoy vehicles, including an ambulance, rear-ended each other in an attempt to stop.
According to reports, the accident took place on Monday evening while Chief Minister Vijayan was traveling from Kottayam to Thiruvananthapuram, approximately 150 kilometers away. Despite the collision, he was able to continue his journey uninterrupted. Police confirmed that no injuries were reported, and no case was filed regarding the accident. However, an investigation has been initiated to review the woman’s actions at the junction. Officials aim to ensure that any necessary safety adjustments are identified to prevent similar incidents in the future.
