Two early morning earthquakes shake northern India, no damage reported
Two consecutive earthquakes rattled northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir, causing widespread panic across the Kashmir Valley.
The incident took place in Baramulla district on August 20.
Visuals showed the ground shaking and trembling scarily.
According to reports, the tremors, however, did not result in any reported loss of life or damage to property.
The first earthquake, measuring 4.9 on the Richter Scale, struck at 6:45 am with its epicenter located in Baramulla district, a region situated in north Kashmir. It occurred at a shallow depth of 5 kilometers.
Just seven minutes later, at 6:52 am, a second earthquake, slightly less powerful at 4.8 in magnitude, shook the same region. This tremor was deeper, occurring at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Despite the intensity of the quakes, local officials confirmed that there were no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage. The region, known for its picturesque landscapes and historical significance, is also prone to seismic activity due to its location in the Himalayan belt.
