Two crocodiles spotted in village in central India, rescue efforts face challenges

In a remote village of central India’s Madhya Pradesh, two crocodiles were spotted late night, causing alarm among the local residents.

The incident took place in Atakarnelgarh village of Sagar district on August 22.

Visuals showed the crocodile not that huge in size walking around and after spotting the torch light running towards the bushes for defence.

According to reports, the villagers, who noticed the crocodiles near a transport check post and in nearby fields, quickly informed the Forest Department after capturing the creatures on video.

Despite the urgency, the Forest Department team that arrived to handle the situation had to return due to a lack of proper equipment and the onset of darkness, making it difficult to safely capture the crocodiles.

Jumman Adivasi, a local villager, mentioned that crocodiles have been seen around the village pond and check post for the past four to five days. The Forest Department, led by Deputy Ranger Rajkumar Ahirwar, is actively working to capture the crocodiles. However, their efforts were hindered by the night conditions, as the reptiles retreated into the pond. The team continues to monitor the area closely.

Atakarnelgarh is a small village on the NH 44 highway, connecting the states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
