Tribal laborer strikes gold with 19.22-carat diamond discovery in central India
In a stunning turn of events, a tribal laborer has discovered a breathtaking 19.22-carat diamond, valued at approximately one crore rupees, transforming his family’s fortunes overnight.
The incident took place at Krishna Kalyanpur Pati in Panna District on July 23.
Visuals showed a man holding a sizable diamond piece in his hands, uncovered during excavation. The family who discovered it stood proudly in front of a government office, surrounded by officials and a crowd. The diamond’s brilliance was evident, casting a radiant glow amidst the buzz of celebration and anticipation.
The diamond-rich soil of Panna district in Madhya Pradesh has once again transformed the fortunes of a destitute family. Ahirgawa, a laborer from the tribal community of Chundwada, discovered a 19.22-carat diamond while working in the shallow diamond mines of Krishna Kalyanpur Pati.
Ahirgawa, who had taken a lease from the diamond office on May 6, 2024, to dig the mine, worked tirelessly with his family despite the scorching heat. Their perseverance paid off when they struck the glittering gem, leading to celebrations in their tribal hamlet.
The diamond, estimated to be worth around one crore rupees, was deposited at the district headquarters’ diamond office on Wednesday afternoon. Rajju Gond, the son of Chundwada Gond, registered the mine lease under his father’s name. He has been mining for diamonds for nearly ten years and always believed that one day he would find a valuable gem.
Overwhelmed with joy, the family plans to use the proceeds from the diamond auction to educate their children and improve their economic status. The diamond inspector confirmed that this gem is of excellent quality, highly demanded in the market, and will be included in the upcoming diamond auction.
