Tree crashes on auto amid torrential rainfall in southern India, passengers flee just in time

In a startling incident in southern India’s Karnataka, passengers inside an auto-rickshaw fled moments before a massive tree fell on their vehicle amidst torrential rains and strong winds.

The incident took place in Bengaluru city, and the video went viral on October 24.

Visuals showed the auto-rickshaw parked at the roadside during heavy rainfall and intense winds. The passengers were seen running away from the auto just in time, as a massive tree collapsed on the vehicle, sparking panic but preventing any casualties.

According to reports, Bengaluru has been facing relentless rains for three days, causing severe waterlogging in many areas. In northern Bengaluru, Doddabommasandra Lake overflowed for the first time in 17 years, flooding nearby low-lying areas like Tata Nagar near Hebbal.

Residents were left stranded as knee-deep water surrounded homes, and rescue boats were deployed to deliver essential supplies. Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda was on-site, overseeing relief efforts in the hardest-hit areas.
