Train accident involving elderly man leads to heartbreaking scene in southern India

An elderly man was killed after being struck by a train while crossing the railway tracks in southern India’s Karnataka, the tragic incident unfolded as the man was dragged for five kilometers before the train was stopped.

 

The incident took place between Bibinagar and Ghatkesar railway stations in Medchal district on July 2.

Visuals showed a man entangled at the front of the train’s engine, his body gruesomely mangled and partially exposed. With his head severely injured and his internal organs visible, the train was moments away from coming to a halt.

 

According to reports an unidentified elderly man met a tragic end late Tuesday night after being hit by a train while crossing the railway tracks near Bibinagar. The incident occurred when the man, described as wearing a blue shirt and orange lungi, got stuck in the front of the train. Despite the train continuing its journey, the man’s body remained caught on the engine, hanging precariously until it reached Ghatkesar railway station.

 

The loco pilot noticed the body only after traveling five kilometers and immediately stopped the train near Ghatkesar. The sight of the body hanging on the engine brought tears to the eyes of onlookers at the station.

 

Local residents who witnessed the scene promptly informed the railway police. Upon arrival, the police recovered the man’s body and noted he was carrying a knife in his right hand. Efforts are currently underway to identify the deceased.

 

The railway police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to uncover the circumstances leading to this tragic accident. The incident occurred between the Bibinagar and Ghatkesar railway stations, with the train traveling from the Warangal direction. The Medchal district authorities and Malkajgiri police are assisting in the investigation.
