Tragic warehouse accident in western India claims life of laborer as wheat bags collapse
In a devastating incident in western India’s Gujarat, a laborer has died after a pile of wheat bags collapsed on him at a warehouse. Four other workers were rescued but are in critical condition.
The incident took place in Amreli district on September 7.
Visuals showed inside a store, where workers were busy amidst piles of grain, a sudden disaster struck. As they were working, several bags of grain shifted and collapsed from their positions. The falling bags created a cascade effect, causing a massive heap of grain to bury all the workers underneath. In the chaos, one of the workers managed to escape and ran outside in a desperate attempt to get help for his trapped colleagues. The scene was one of confusion and urgency as the outside worker sought assistance to rescue those still buried beneath the heavy sacks of grain.
In a tragic event that unfolded in Amreli district, a laborer lost his life when a stack of wheat bags suddenly toppled over him in a warehouse. The accident occurred as workers were unloading wheat sacks from a platform. The collapse caused several bags to fall, trapping five laborers beneath them.
Fortunately, four of the workers were rescued by their colleagues who managed to remove the bags. The rescued laborers were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries. Sadly, one of the workers succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The incident was captured on CCTV, and the footage is now circulating on social media. Initial investigations by the police suggest that inadequate safety measures might have contributed to the accident. The police have taken the deceased’s body into custody for post-mortem and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
