A devastating fire erupted in a four-storied building in southern India’s Telangana, trapping 20 people and critically injuring a family of four.
The incident took place at Venkateswara Nagar, under Kulsumpura police station in Hyderabad on July 24.
Visuals showed a massive fire engulfing a building, casting a dark shadow on the neighboring structure, which became blackened due to the heavy smoke. Firefighters were present at the scene, battling the fierce flames. Inside the building, everything was reduced to ashes. Scooters and bikes parked nearby were caught in the blaze, partially charred by the spreading fire.
A major fire broke out in a four-storied building in Venkateswara Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Kulsumpura police station, causing chaos and panic in the area. The fire originated in a sofa manufacturing warehouse located on the ground floor of the building and quickly spread to the first floor, trapping about 20 people inside.
Residents, noticing the flames, attempted to control the fire but were soon overwhelmed by its intensity. Fire crews arrived at the scene late, exacerbating the situation. Among the victims was a family of four, including two children, who sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Osmania Hospital. The condition of one child is reported to be critical.
The family, identified as Srinivas, his wife, and their two children, lived in a room within the same building. Tragically, their escape was hindered by sofa materials stored in their room by the building owner. This obstruction delayed their evacuation, resulting in significant injuries by the time local rescuers managed to reach them.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damages. The incident has raised serious concerns about fire safety regulations and emergency response times in the area.
