Tragic accident on major highway in northern India

In a devastating road accident on a national highway in northern India’s Haryana, seven pilgrims lost their lives and more than 20 sustained injuries after a collision between a traveler bus and a truck.

The incident occurred on Delhi-Jammu national highway near Ambala, on May 24.

Visuals showed how badly the bus was damaged after the accident and the pilgrim’s belongings were scattered around the road.

The victims were en route to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, a revered Hindu pilgrimage site, from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.

Emergency services rushed to the scene to provide immediate medical assistance and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision, which highlights the ongoing concerns about road safety on India’s highways. Mata Vaishno Devi, located in the Trikuta Mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, attracts millions of pilgrims annually, often leading to increased traffic on the routes to the shrine.
