Tragedy unfolds as collision between two cars leaves two individuals fatally injured in northeastern India
In a tragic incident in northeastern India’s Assam, two individuals lost their lives following a disturbing collision between two cars.
The incident took place on the Guwahati-Shillong road in the Khanapara area of Guwahati city on November 1.
Visuals showed the moment a black car lost control and collided with a white SUV making a U-turn at a traffic point, resulting in a devastating crash.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 3:40 am, with eyewitnesses and police describing it as ‘spine-shivering.’ Dispur traffic branch ASI, Manoj Kumar Barman, stated that the white SUV, coming from the direction of Six Mile, was attempting a U-turn near the footbridge when it was struck by the black SUV, which was traveling from Jorabat at high speed. “There were three people seated in the black SUV. Two of them died on the spot, while one survived,” the officer reported.
The deceased, seated in the front, were identified as Deepit Dey (20) and Konamika Narjaree (19). The third passenger, Neha Basumatary (23), who was in the back seat, sustained injuries. Police suspect that Dey was driving under the influence of alcohol. “Deepit Dey was driving a brand new car he had purchased just 15-20 days ago,” Barman added. The driver of the white SUV, Gautam Sharma, also sustained injuries, though they were not as severe as those of Dey or Narjaree. Both vehicles involved were registered under Kamrup.
