Tragedy strikes as bus carrying BSF personnel plunges into gorge in northern India
In a devastating incident in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir, a bus carrying BSF personnel for election duty plunged into a gorge, leaving soldiers critically injured.
The incident took place in Budgam district on September 20.
Visuals from the site showed the bus completely wrecked in the gorge, with the soldiers’ belongings scattered across the area. Locals were seen tirelessly assisting the injured, providing water and essential supplies amidst the distressing and chaotic situation.
According to reports, at least three BSF troopers lost their lives, and 32 others sustained injuries in the tragic accident. The bus had been hired to transport the jawans for the second phase of polling during the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The injured soldiers were immediately rushed to the hospital, with most reported to be in stable condition.
Jammu and Kashmir police chief, R. R. Swain, expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of the BSF troopers and extended his condolences to the bereaved families and the jawans’ colleagues.
“We mourn the loss of these brave soldiers who served the nation selflessly. We are committed to providing all necessary support to the injured and ensuring their swift recovery,” he said in an official statement.
