Tragedy on Eid: Man accused of blasphemy and burnt alive in front of police station in Pakistan
Eid in Pakistan turned out to be tragic as a man was set ablaze in front of a police station by a mob.
The miserable incident took place in town of Madyan, Swat on June 20.
According to reports, the unrest began when a man, reportedly from Sialkot, was accused of burning pages of the Quran. As news of this act spread rapidly, it incited fury among the local residents.
According to officials, the mob overpowered the police and forcibly dragged the accused out from their custody. The man was beaten and dragged through the streets before succumbing to the assault.
Enraged and deeply hurt, the residents of Madyan demanded immediate action. The police swiftly intervened, taking the accused into custody and transporting him to the local police station in an effort to prevent mob justice. However, this attempt to maintain order dramatically backfired.
