Traffic stalls as giant Indian rock python crosses Mumbai road, captivating onlookers
A massive Indian Rock Python caused quite a stir as it was spotted crossing a road in western India’s Maharastra.
The incident took place in the Aarey Milk Colony forest area of Goregaon East in Mumbai City on November 24.
Visuals showed a sizable crowd, including women, gathered on the road to witness the snake’s slow journey toward the nearby bushes. The reptile’s unexpected appearance briefly disrupted traffic in the area, as onlookers paused to observe the spectacle.
According to reports, local authorities have yet to confirm whether the python was captured or allowed to retreat safely into its natural habitat. The Indian Rock Python, known for its impressive size, distinctive dark patches, and pinkish head, is a slow-moving species primarily active at night. However, it is occasionally seen basking or searching for food during the day. While it is predominantly terrestrial, it can climb effectively and prefers to remain hidden when threatened.
