Tourist rescue from river by swift action of SDRF in northern India

A young pilgrim from Maharashtra, India, was rescued by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) after being swept away by a river in northern India’s Uttarakhand.
This unfortunate event took place in Sitapur, east of Sonprayag in Rudraprayag district on May 18.
Visuals showed how the individual was rescued and how much he thanked his rescuers after his life was saved.
The incident occurred when the pilgrim, identified as Sanjay, was bathing in the river during his visit to the revered Shri Kedarnath Temple. Losing control, he was carried to the opposite bank and found himself unable to return to safety.
Upon receiving an urgent call from Kotwali Sonprayag, the SDRF team, led by Sub-Inspector Ashish Dimri, swiftly mobilized to the scene. Utilizing a rope, the rescue team delivered a life jacket and life buoy to Sanjay and carefully pulled him to safety. The successful rescue operation was met with relief and gratitude, with Sanjay expressing heartfelt thanks to the SDRF team for their prompt and effective response.
