Tin can nightmare: bear trapped in metal madness rescued by wildlife officials in northern India

A one-year-old bear found itself in a distressing situation in Joshimath Parsari village, Chamoli district, on November 20, when its head became stuck inside a tin container. The distressed animal was spotted roaming around with the canister stuck on its head, causing concern among the locals.

Visuals showed the bear struggling to free itself, first seen lying on the ground in confusion and later wandering near a house’s staircase. For hours, it desperately tried to dislodge the container, attracting attention from onlookers who quickly alerted the forest department.

Upon receiving the call, the Forest Range Officer of Nanda Devi National Park, Gaurav Negi, led a team to the scene. Within four hours, the team successfully cut through the canister, freeing the young bear. The bear was then safely released back into the forest, where it could continue its journey in peace.

The bear’s head had become trapped when it attempted to feed from the canister, unable to remove it due to the container’s small opening. Thankfully, the intervention of the forest department ensured the bear’s safe rescue, sparing it from further harm.
