Tiger found injured on railway track sparks concern over wildlife safety in western India

A tiger was found injured on a railway track in western India’s Maharashtra.

The incident occurred on the Tumsar-Tirodi railway track, under the SECR Nagpur Division in the Bhandara district, and a video went viral on November 15.

Visuals showed a severely injured tiger lying on the track, unable to move its body, with only slight movement of its head.

According to reports, mitigation steps are underway and have been taken by the railway authorities in the forest areas of Bhandara Tiger Reserve. In response to the viral video, Railway authorities have stated that the necessary actions had been escalated to the relevant official at the Divisional Railway Manager’s office in the Nagpur SEC Railway.
