Western India’s Gujarat witnessed dust storms accompanied by thunderstorms and unseasonal rains, causing concern among farmers during the harvest period.
The incident took place in the Jamkandorna area of Rajkot district on May 15.
Visuals showed before the rain arrived, a fierce storm and cyclone were raging, with powerful winds.
As thunderstorms and unseasonal rains sweep through Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat, agricultural communities find themselves on edge amidst the crucial harvest season. The unexpected weather phenomena, persisting for the third consecutive day, have disrupted normalcy and heightened worries among farmers.
Although offering relief from the scorching heat, the adverse weather conditions pose a significant challenge to farmers currently engaged in harvesting crops like pearl millet, sesamum, and green gram. The India Meteorological Department predicts further showers in the coming days, adding to the apprehension among agricultural communities.
