Three traditional boats destroyed by strong winds on Dal lake in northern India

In a sudden turn of weather, strong winds wreaked havoc on Dal Lake, one of the most famous tourist attractions in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the destruction of three traditional wooden boats known as “shikaras.”

The incident took place in Dal Lake of Srinagar district on June 12.

Visuals showed the boats capsized by the forceful gusts and their ruins floating.

According to reports fortunately, no injuries were reported as the lake was not crowded at the time. However, the loss of these shikaras represents a substantial economic setback for the boat owners, who rely heavily on tourism for their livelihood.
