Two youths robbed a jewellery shop, with one impersonating a customer in broad daylight while the saleswoman was distracted by a phone call.

The loot took place in northern India’s Chhattisgarh, in Durg city on January 8.

Footage shows a young man sitting in a chair, and a saleswoman shows him rings in a display tray. He tries on a few rings and asks the saleswoman to show more. The thief runs away wearing 10 rings on each finger, while the saleswoman is on a phone call. The saleswoman stands frozen, helpless against the thief’s sudden escape. The thief gets on a bike with his accomplice and leaves the spot.

According to reports, two men arrived at the shop on a bike with one of them posing as a customer while the other one stayed out with his bike. The man tried rings worth $5822 (approximately ₹5 lakhs) and made off with the rings. On receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and started the investigation.
