Terrifying leopard encounter unsettles local residents in northern India

The incident took place in Kunwarpur village of Pilibhit district on May 4.
Visuals showed a leopard chasing the villagers and suddenly pounced on a man when he tried to chase it with a stick.
According to the reports, the villagers were working in the fields on Saturday. Suddenly a leopard was seen on the field. On seeing the leopard, there was panic among the villagers. Hundreds of villagers gathered on the spot to see the leopard. During this, the leopard was also seen on the side of the railway line, and seeing this about three kilometers from the city, the villagers started creating ruckus. When the leopard started running, the villagers chased it with sticks.
As a precautionary measure, the village school was closed. The Forest Department team has increased surveillance in the area
Giving information on the matter, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve Deputy Director Manish Singh said that on receiving the news of the presence of a leopard, a team has been deployed on the spot and the villagers have also been instructed to be cautious.
