Terrifying! Landslide threatens livelihoods amidst heavy rains in Nepal
A devastating landslide triggered by heavy rainfall has posed a significant threat to the livelihoods of residents in Nepal.

The incident took place in Nagarjun Municipality of Kathmandu District on September 29.


Visuals showed the massive landslide in the valley, where debris was seen cascading down with alarming force, dangerously close to a house. The footage made it appear as if the debris could soon engulf the entire structure, further highlighting the scale of the threat.

According to reports, the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, is grappling with the aftermath of severe flash floods and landslides, which wreaked havoc on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Over 170 people have lost their lives across the country, and thousands have been displaced from their homes, with many more sustaining injuries. The monsoon rains have relentlessly pounded the region, causing widespread destruction.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported record-breaking rainfall in Kathmandu, with the airport recording about 240 millimeters of rain—the highest since 2002. The Bagmati River and its tributaries overflowed, flooding homes and vehicles. Desperate residents waded through chest-deep water in a frantic attempt to reach higher ground.
