Tensions erupt in northern India after cow remains found in temple; protests lead to clashes with police

The incident took place in Bhilwara city on August 25.
Visuals showed how the protest intensified, prompting the police to resort to a lathi charge (baton charge) to disperse the increasingly violent crowd. Despite this, the protesters regrouped and continued their demonstration outside the temple.
According to reports, thousands of angry residents gathered outside the Hanuman Mandir in the Kotwali police station area, protesting for over 10 hours. The situation escalated as the crowd, infuriated by the incident and reports of an injured cow, demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible.
The incident also saw the involvement of local religious leaders, including Mahant Mahamandaleshwar Hansram Maharaj of the International Udasin Ashram, who called for a city-wide shutdown of Bhilwara on Sunday if the accused were not apprehended.
BJP leaders expressed strong discontent over the incident. MP Damodar Agarwal joined the protesters, sitting alongside them and voicing his concerns directly to the Collector and Superintendent of Police. The tension in Bhilwara highlights the deep sensitivity surrounding religious issues in India, with the discovery of cow remains in a temple sparking widespread anger and unrest.
