Temple deity’s jewelry stolen in brazen daylight robbery in southern India
An unidentified culprit brazenly stole valuable jewelry in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh, including a gold ornament and mangalsutra, from a temple deity
The incident took place at the Saubhagya Lakshmi Amma temple in Satrampadu village near Eluru town on April 7.
Visuals showed a man entering the temple premises stealthily, skulking through its sacred halls. After a brief reconnaissance, he approached the adorned deity, carefully extracting the golden mangalsutra from around the neck of the goddess statue. With his illicit prize in hand, he swiftly vanished into the night.
According to reports an unidentified perpetrator stole a gold ornament and mangalsutra belonging to the temple deity in Satrampadu village near Eluru. The theft, amounting to approximately 56 grams of gold, occurred during the early hours of Sunday at the Saubhagya Lakshmi Amma temple.
According to the police, CCTV footage captured the perpetrator trespassing into the temple premises. The individual entered the temple, offered prayers, and upon ensuring no one was present, proceeded to the sanctum where the mangalsutra belonging to the Goddess was kept. The incident has sparked concern among locals and authorities, who are actively investigating the matter.
