Suspended constable unleashes fury, brutally attacks doctor with hammer in northern India
In a shocking incident in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, a suspended constable attacked a doctor with a hammer in hospital, raising panic amongst those present in the hospital.
The incident took place at Gastro Liver Hospital located at Chhatra Sangh Chauraha in Cantt area of Gorakhpur district on October 4.
Visuals showed the constable repeatedly attacking the doctor, while bystanders attempted to intervene. Chaos ensued as staff and patients scrambled to escape, visibly shaken by the violence.
According to reports, constable Pankaj Chaudhary, upset over an argument with the doctor a day earlier, entered the hospital carrying a concealed hammer. The dispute stemmed from a disagreement over medical fees for his wife’s treatment. During the prior visit, Chaudhary had insisted on getting his wife’s ultrasound done elsewhere to save costs, which led to a heated exchange with Dr. Anuj Sarkar. The confrontation escalated, and hospital staff intervened, reportedly roughing up the constable.
Angered by the incident and feeling humiliated, Chaudhary decided to take matters into his own hands. On the following day, he arrived at the hospital with a hammer hidden in a bag. He had even informed the police through Dial 112 about the previous day’s altercation, claiming he had been assaulted by hospital staff. However, once inside, Chaudhary unleashed a sudden and violent attack on the doctor, striking him repeatedly before being overpowered by the police present on the scene.

Dr. Sarkar sustained serious head injuries and is currently receiving treatment at his brother’s hospital in Daudpur. Meanwhile, police have taken Chaudhary into custody, and a formal case has been registered against him based on the doctor’s complaint.
