Sub-adult elephant successfully rescued and reunited with herd in eastern India
In a remarkable rescue operation, a sub-adult elephant was successfully reunited with its herd in eastern India’s Odisha.
The incident took place in Satkosia spread over four districts viz. Angul, Cuttack, Boudh and Nayagarh and the news went viral on June 20.
Visuals showed the lost elephant being rescued with the help of an excavator by the rescuers.
According to reports, the young tusker, which had become separated from its group, was patiently awaited by its herd in a nearby forest as the rescue operation extended late into the night.
The rescue team, comprising dedicated wildlife officials and forest department staff, worked tirelessly to ensure the safe reunion of the elephant with its herd. The operation, which required precision and patience, culminated in the tusker rejoining its group, much to the relief of the herd and the rescuers.
