Stranded devotee, on a pilgrimage, rescued after heavy snowfall wreaks havoc in northern India

A stranded devotee was rescued after bad weather and heavy snowfall wreaked havoc in northern India’s Uttarakhand.
The devotee, who was in the Kedarnath Yatra, was stranded near the Meru Sumeru Mountain towards Bhairav temple, on May 26.
Visuals showed officials of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) wading through the snow in an attempt to rescue the man who lost his way. They were seen carrying the man through the snow with the help of a blanket.
The man was seated on it and they dragged the blanket which made him slide through. Despite the bad weather and extremely difficult conditions, the rescue operation was successfully carried out.
According to a report, the man was identified as a 38-year-old named Sachin Gupta. A resident of northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, Gupta was sent to the Vivekananda hospital for treatment after he was rescued. It was learnt that the rescue was a timely one as even a delay could have proven to be a fatal one for the man, who was stranded in the snow.
