Visuals show three bison trapped in a well, struggling helplessly. Firefighters quickly brought in an earthmover and excavated one side of the well to form a temporary ramp. After relentless efforts, the bison managed to climb the ramp, emerging from the well one by one.
Speaking to Newslions, Natrajan, the Range Forest Officer of Dharmapuri, stated that the rescue operation began shortly after they received information at 10:30 AM. The mission, which involved range officers, forest guards, and temporary watchers, started at 11 AM and concluded successfully by 2:30 PM. The bison, aged between three and five years, returned to the forest reserve located just 100–150 meters from the site after being rescued.
Natrajan explained that the three bison had strayed into Nallampatti village and accidentally fallen into a 30–foot-deep open well. Villagers, upon noticing the distressed animals, immediately informed forest officials, who sought assistance from fire and rescue services. He added that such incidents are common, as bison often wander into farmland near Marandahalli in search of food and water. These intrusions not only damage crops but also pose dangers to the animals themselves, with cases of bison falling into open wells or getting electrocuted frequently reported.
