This incident follows a recent tragedy in the state, where the body of a 31-year-old doctor was found on the third floor of a hospital. The post-mortem revealed she had been sexually assaulted. On Saturday, a civil police volunteer associated with the Kolkata Police was arrested for the crime and remanded to 14 days of police custody. Female doctors and staff across the state have organized widespread protests, voicing concerns about their safety in the wake of these incidents.
