Snow-clearing efforts underway as fresh snowfall blankets Zoji La Pass
December 2, 2024
The Border Roads Organization (BRO) launched a major snow-clearing operation, deploying personnel and machinery to remove fresh snowfall from the highway.
The incident occurred on the Srinagar-Leh highway at Zoji La Pass in Kargil district, Jammu and Kashmir, on November 30.
Visual shows a bulldozer cutting through a thick layer of snow to clear the road for safe vehicular movement. Despite the efforts, the highway remains closed to traffic as crews continue their work amid ongoing snowfall.
According to reports, an official stated machinery was deployed to clear snow on the Zojila Pass, which received approximately 3 to 4 inches of snowfall. Traffic on the highway from Kargil’s side will resume once the road is cleared.
The road had been closed as a precaution, and clearance operations began early Sunday morning.
